Exporting an iMessage conversation
Apple has no built-in export button, so the conversation is saved as text from a Mac or with an export app. Kyle reads the resulting .txt file.
On a Mac
- 01Open Messages on your Mac and select the conversation.
- 02Choose Edit → Select All, then Copy.
- 03Paste into TextEdit and choose Format → Make Plain Text.
- 04Save the file as a .txt document.
- 05Upload that .txt file here.
With an export app
- 01Use an iPhone backup tool such as iMazing or imessage-exporter.
- 02Choose the conversation you want investigated.
- 03Export as Text (.txt), not PDF or CSV.
- 04Exclude attachments — Kyle only reads text.
- 05Upload the .txt file, or the .zip it came in.
Zipped exports are fine
If your export tool hands you a .zip, upload it as-is. Kyle opens the archive and finds the conversation file inside.
